On Tuesday, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Interior announced that the ministry had made all the required arrangements to host the exercise. The event will be organised according to the decision taken during the 37th meeting of the GCC interior minister in the year 2020.

The ministry said, “The aim behind this exercise is to raise the level of coordination and to toughen the bonds of cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The exercise will also nourish the degree of readiness of the security forces to confront crises and emergencies. It will also address the risks and threats to the Arabian Gulf Region.”

A member of the Command and Control Committee, Brigadier General Salem bin Abdullah Al-Habsi, said that the participants are ready for the exercise and develop the capabilities to deal with crises and emergencies.

On Wednesday, the Gulf ambassadors met with the US envoy to Iran Robert Malley, and they discussed the security concerns related to the Iranian nuclear program.

The meeting with Malley was scheduled on the sidelines of the international negotiations to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action 2015 or Iran nuclear deal. The session was resumed last week, after more than five years, in the Austrian capital, Vienna. GCC ambassadors and Robert Malley discussed the latest developments during the meetings hosted by Saudi Arabia’s ambassador.
