Amid Covid crisis, Google helps around 10 M people, businesses in Europe, Africa & Middle-East

The search engine giant set an aim that it will help 10 million businesses and people, in June 2020, by the end of the year 2021. The main objective behind this help was to find jobs, digitise and assist them in growing.

According to the latest statics shared by the massively used search engine, it has helped more than 10 million people and businesses around Europe, the Middle East and Africa during the Covid-19 hit the world.

The Google President of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Matt Brittin, through a blogpost, stated that the company had achieved a milestone as it has completed its target, even surpassed it.

Brittin further said that the company’s efforts towards the digital transition would continue at the same pace in the year 2022 as well.

He further mentioned, “The pandemic challenged the people across the world in a number of ways, either economically or mentally. Our motive is to provide an inclusive, digital and sustainable future and will play our part”.

The CEO of Google and Alphabet Sundar Pichai, on Wednesday, took Twitter and expressed his excitement. Pichai tweeted, “Excited to announce that we surpassed our goal!”

Since March 2020, the company has launched more than 200 features to provide assistance, during the pandemic. One such feature is – Business Profiles. This feature helps the one who has been trying hard to find customers for the business by managing their presence directly on Google Maps and Google Search.

The tech giant also launched Google Career Certificates, which help people in finding new jobs. The feature allows people to acquire jobs, according to their respective skills, in the massively grown sectors like IT, data analytics, project management and UX design.
