Egypt’s daily COVID infections falls under 2,000

Egypt's health ministry on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, recorded a total of 1,892 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally of the confirmed novel coronavirus cases to 475,341.

Cairo: Egypt’s health ministry on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, recorded a total of 1,892 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally of the confirmed novel coronavirus cases to 475,341. The data was shared by the Ministry of Health and Population in its daily COVID-19 update report. 

The Middle East nation recorded an additional thirty-two (32) COVID-19 related fatalities on Wednesday. With these new deaths, the total death rate of the country has increased to 23,889.

As per the statics provided by the health ministry in its report, there are a total of 2,140 individuals who recovered from the deadliest viral disease and got discharged from the hospital facilities.  

The number of overall recoveries since the start of the pandemic has risen to 406,107. 

Vaccination data of Egypt: 

The country so far managed to vaccinate a total of 40,088,514 individuals with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccines, counting for around 39.2% of the total Egyptian population. 

On the other hand, there are 29,465,603 persons in the Arab Republic of Egypt who have received their recommended number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines and are now in the category of fully vaccinated individuals. This number computes for nearly 28.8% of the total Egyptian population. 

The data shared by the Egyptian health ministry further highlights that more than 1 million eligible individuals in the country are fully vaccinated and has also taken their booster shots.

The Egyptian government has set the target to innoculate 70% of the total targeted population against viral illness by the second half of 2022 year (those who are above the age of 12 years). 

For the first time since the last week of January, the daily COVID-19 infection rate of Egypt lowered from the margin of 2,000 on Wednesday, which is indeed a good sign of recovery for the Middle East state.
