Another tweet of Dubai police stated as they shared the video clip of children with down syndrome playing and enjoying the day, “The Positive Spirit Initiative in cooperation with the People of Determination Council, celebrated the World Down Syndrome Day, with the participation of 60 male and female students from Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services in activities held at the Yalla Bowling Hall in Mirdif City Center @MagicPlanetMENA.”

The 21st day of March was selected to represent the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome. The day is marked to create awareness about Down syndrome – a condition in which a child is born with an extra 21st chromosome.

An animated short, Freebird, was also made to recognize World Down Syndrome Day in 2021. The film was set to a song, “Freedom” by Jordan Hart, and won the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival in 2021.

In addition to this, the Dubai Police has started a survey with the motive to gather opinions and feedback from the general public in terms of security.
