MBVV Police rescues 18-year-old Indian girl stuck with a family in Dubai

An 18-year-old Indian girl was rescued from Dubai, United Arab Emirates and brought back to India within three days after her mother filed a complaint with the Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) Commissionerate asking for her return.

An 18-year-old Indian girl was rescued from Dubai, United Arab Emirates and brought back to India within three days after her mother filed a complaint with the Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) Commissionerate asking for her return.

As per Sheetal Shinde, the police sub-inspector (PSI), the officer looking over the case, the girl had gone to Dubai in April on a tourist visa for three months after her neighbours in Vasai gave her a job as a nanny and maid for their Dubai house on a contract of one year.

After she reached Dubai to them, she was not allowed to talk to her family, including her mother, until and unless she was on a conference call with her employers. Her employers also used to eavesdrop on the conversations that she did with her mother. After some time, she was not permitted to call her mother anymore. The mother filed a complaint after she did not receive a call from her for over three weeks.

The MBVV, upon receiving the complaint, sought help from the Indian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and under the charge of Sanjay Sudhir, a diplomat, the rescue operations started.

A team from the Indian Embassy reached the employer’s house and saved the girl, and sent her back to her country.

Shinde stated, “The employer was unwilling to send the girl back to India. She was arguing that they had a contract for a year. That is when the officials stepped in and saved her. She was sent back to Mumbai on June 5.”

The PSI further stated that the girl is presently not in her right state of mind as she was being mentally tortured and is undergoing counselling right now.

“After she is better, she might file a complaint against her employers,” she further added.
