St Kitts: PM Terrance Drew issues safety guidelines from Covid-19 Flu

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis has recently updated on his official social media account that the nation, along with the rest of the regions near the Island, is in the middle of the crises of Influenza (Flu) 2022-2023 season, which is known to occur usually from the period of November to March every year.

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Drew, has recently updated on his official social media account that the nation, along with the rest of the regions near the Island, is in the middle of the crisis of Influenza (Flu) 2022-2023 season, which is known to occur usually from the period of November to March every year.

As per the recent updates, Prime Minister Terrance Drew has conveyed that the Ministry of Health has issued several instructions and safety measures, St Kitts and Nevis, to advise the people for transmission prevention from influenza, Respiratory Syncytial (RSV) along with any new strain of the Covid-19 rise.

A recent advisory issued by the Ministry of Health, St Kitts, conveyed that the people should look forward to any chances of virus transmission. If they got any symptoms, they must report to the nearest health care centre on the Island.

Furthermore, PM Drew confirmed the seriousness of the respiratory virus and addressed it as an acute virus with adverse outcomes along with its contagious respiratory tract infection (RTI), which can be caused by type A (H3N2) and type B virus infection spreading in all over the world, as well as in Caribbean sub-region.

Moreover, PM Terrance Drew added that the Covid-19 pandemic has been putting the whole world behind and have had an impact globally, the USA (United States of America), Europe and the Caribbean region accompanying the Federation.

A gradual increase in RSV, Covid 19 and Influenza (Flu) cases has been reported in the Caribbean region caused by the type A virus confirmed by the Federation by Laboratory testing.

In addition, the Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the rising emergence of XBB.1.5, the latest subvariant of Omicron spreading in the northeastern USA region. It has been confirmed that the virus is the most transmissible and contagious variant detected so far.

PM Dr Terrance Drew has confirmed that the government accompanied by the Ministry of Health, has made wearing masks mandatory, which was announced last August (2022) and was lifted on the condition to wear the mask while visiting any hospital or health care facility.

The St Kitts government has issued recommendations to the people to visit the doctor regularly, or the medical officer appointed in the district at the nearest health care centres in case of any visual symptoms of the flu. ‘’Or stay home till you fully recover to prevent others from the transmission’’.
