Today, the health sector continues efforts to build capacity in this sector by providing the updated Child Protection Guide, which puts in place a unified mechanism for health facilities in the UAE, to protect children and report cases of abuse or neglect. 

Additionally, they will provide approved training programs for health workers and develop preventive, therapeutic and psychological healthcare capabilities And the health guidance on child’s health, nutrition and protection.

The evidence developed with the partners shows that healthcare providers in the UAE should cooperate and coordinate with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, which has a specialized child protection unit equipped with the capabilities to support and receive referrals, knowing that similar units will soon be opened in both Al Ain City and Zafra region.

Maintaining the health and safety of all children through ensuring their accessibility to world-class healthcare services in the emirate has always been a priority.

Today, the health sector continues efforts to enhance child protection capacities. 

Through the updated Child Protection Guide, they outline a unified work mechanism for health facilities in the emirate to report cases of abuse or neglect and provide certified training programmes for health workers.

This comes with the goal of developing preventative, curative and psychological healthcare capacities, as well as child health guidance, nutrition, and protection.

Updated with the child protection stakeholders, the guide clarifies that healthcare providers must report any suspicion of child abuse if any physical evidence or behaviour is observed, follow the updated reporting mechanism, and cooperate with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), which has a child protection unit, to provide the necessary medical support and referrals for cases of violence against children.
