Saudi Arabia’s name enters Guinness World Records for largest farm

Saudi Arabia has created history and got its name entered into the Guinness World Record book for establishing the largest sustainable farm in the world. This achievement of Saudi Arabia came due to a monumental success in the agriculture sector by adopting the latest and modern technologies.

An exclusive and dedicated Research Unit for Renewable Water Agriculture purposes located in Wadi Bin Hashbal, Asir region of the country, has been awarded the credit as the world’s largest farm in terms of geographical area.

The success as world record holder was officially announced in an event organised by the Saudi Reef Program at its headquarters located in Riyadh. The Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadhli, was present at the event. He was honoured to collect the certificate of registration on this historic occasion.

Spreading over a wide area of 3.2 million square meters, the farm has been divided into two sections, each equipped with a concrete water tank boasting a storage capacity of 500 cubic meters.

The farm embodies a many miracle of sustainable agriculture, employing a self-irrigation network to provide nutrition to all crops across the two divided and expansive fields. There are five air-conditioned greenhouses shed, along with several other structures arranged for this farmhouse.

A modern and high-tech system of water treatment underlines the irrigation methodology at the farm.Farm is organised through a number of stages by a team of experts, of various disciplines such as irrigation, fertilisation, prevention, and equipment management.

The reserved team for the farm oversee a total of 50 fields dedicated to trees of fruit, alongside 20 extra fields exclusively reserved for reclamation and cultivation in the near future.

Among the notable produce are olives, almonds, grapes, figs, pomegranates, tangerines, oranges, lemons etc. The farm also included inside an experimental field, incubating a myriad of different agricultural varieties, which showed the innovation and sustainability at the heart of this agrarian farm, now world-renowned.
