The dual federation of St. Kitts and Nevis was reeling under water scarcity due to the negligence of the previous tenure of the Harris-led administration.

It is to be added that the Previous Government led by Harris did nothing to address this problem, moreover, they stopped the water drilling company “BEAD” from doing any drilling work. The company was engaged under the agreement signed by the Labour government before Harris and his party came to power.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Dr. Terrnace Drew led Labour party government have taken immediate steps in this direction(water crisis) soon after assuming office two years ago.

As a result of the dedicated efforts of the Drew government the drilling company “BEAD” was again ordered to resume the work which led to the successful digging of a well in the Cayon. Similarly, another significant step  includes restarting the desalination plant at the Canada Estate with the financial assistance of the United Arab Emirates(UAE).

Another historic decision was taken under the guidance of PM Drew is signing the contract for the desalination plant having a capacity of two million gallons. The surveys are being carried out on a large scale to find the sources of the groundwater.

PM Dr Terrance Drew is playing a key role in the successful execution of these projects to tackle the water crisis as soon as possible.
