2024-25 Budget of Dominica will be more people-friendly: PM Skerrit

Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Dominica  vowed to present a more public-centred budget for 2024-25. He shared his views about the budget during a monthly press conference. The budget will be presented on Friday, July 26.

It is worth mentioning that PM Skerrit used to hold a press conference every month to discuss the various issues of the country.  He held the latest press conference on Monday with a particular focus on the forthcoming budget. In the beginning  PM condemned the attack on the former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.

 

As the main focus during the press conference was the budget, PM explained the key points that will be part of 2024-25 budget.  According to the PM, a more people-friendly policy will be introduced in this year’s budget, especially to generate extra employment opportunities.

 

PM further said, “The entire world is facing many problems  such as economic fallouts, regional conflicts, inflation,   unemployment etc and Dominica cannot be an exception. However  our Government is determined to do our best to uplift the standards of living of citizens.”

Moreover  the budget will address all social and economic realities to bring  significant change the lives of the country’s citizens, added the PM. Moreover his administration would take all necessary measures to counter the problems by implementing the social security program and investing in productive sectors.

The budget will have specific provisions for the initiative, which will create jobs and support small businesses. These steps will lead to economic stability.  While recounting previous achievements, the PM said the budget will consolidate the gains of previous years.

 

According to PM, through this budget  the government aims to enhance the employment rate through economic stimulation.  It is to be noted that the Minister of Finance, Dr. Irving McIntyre  is planning to hold a discussion on the new structure for nursing services in the country while creating a new position in the healthcare sector.

 

Meanwhile on concluding the press conference, PM  Skerrit hopes people will benefit from the new initiative proposed under the Budget. He also expressed confidence that people will appreciate this people-centric budget.
