The campaign, organized jointly by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and the Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs, in collaboration with government, local, and private sector partners, kicked off with a series of free medical checkups for more than 3,300 construction workers.

The program includes a range of services such as health examinations, awareness lectures, symbolic gifts, and first-aid training courses designed to combat heat exhaustion and ensure worker safety during the extreme summer heat.

The targeted areas for this campaign include Al Hamriyah City, Al Dhaid, Kalba University, Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, and Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club.

The initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for workers and residents in Sharjah, providing critical support and protection against the adverse effects of the intense heat.

Mohamed Abdul Allah Al Zarooni, Director of the Ministry’s Representative Office in Sharjah, emphasized the importance of the program in delivering preventive guidance and essential supplies.

“We are committed to providing free medical examinations and health consultations to detect and address heat-related symptoms early,” Al Zarooni stated. “Our goal is to ensure that workers are well-informed and adequately protected during this challenging season.”

The campaign’s preventive approach includes distributing cooling supplies and offering educational resources to workers about recognizing and preventing heat-related illnesses.

The awareness lectures are designed to inform workers about the risks of heat exhaustion, signs to watch for, and the necessary steps to take in case of an emergency.

Eman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Promotion Department at the Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs, highlighted the collaborative effort involved in this initiative.

“This program reflects the collective commitment of all our partners to enhance public health and improve the quality of life within our community,” Saif remarked.

“By working together, we aim to ensure the safety and well-being of our workers and residents during the extreme heat.”

The campaign’s multifaceted approach underscores Sharjah’s dedication to safeguarding its workforce and fostering a supportive environment amidst the challenging summer conditions.

With temperatures continuing to rise, this initiative stands as a crucial effort in mitigating the risks associated with heat exposure and ensuring that workers remain healthy and protected.
