Dubai RTA Announces Traffic Delays and Diversions on Al Ain Road for Maintenance

Dubai, UAE – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced significant traffic delays and diversions on Al Ain Road under the fifth intersection with Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road due to essential maintenance work on the bridge.

The disruptions will commence on August 9 and continue until September 9, 2024, affecting both weekday and weekend traffic.

In a social media post on Thursday, the RTA informed commuters to brace for delays in both directions of the road daily during weekdays, from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

The authority highlighted that these delays are necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the maintenance operations being conducted on the bridge.

“The maintenance work on the bridge at the fifth intersection is crucial to ensuring the long-term safety and functionality of the infrastructure,” the RTA stated.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this period.”

To mitigate the impact of these delays, the RTA has planned alternative routes and diversions.

Commuters are advised to follow the signage and guidance provided by traffic authorities to navigate through the affected areas.

The authority also encouraged road users to plan their journeys in advance and consider using public transportation where possible to minimize disruptions.

The maintenance work will not only affect weekday traffic but will also result in complete closures of the Dubai-Al Ain Road during weekends.

For two weeks, from 1:00 am to 10:00 am, the road will be entirely closed to facilitate the maintenance activities.

These closures are scheduled to ensure that the most critical and disruptive work can be conducted safely and efficiently, with the least impact on daily commuter traffic.

The RTA has coordinated with various stakeholders, including the Dubai Police and emergency services, to ensure that adequate measures are in place to manage the traffic flow and respond to any incidents that may arise during the maintenance period.

Special attention will be given to maintaining access for emergency vehicles and ensuring the safety of all road users.

“We urge motorists to exercise caution and adhere to the speed limits and traffic signs in the affected areas,” the RTA emphasized.

“Our teams will be working around the clock to complete the maintenance work as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

Residents and businesses along the affected routes have been informed of the planned maintenance and potential disruptions.

The RTA has assured them that every effort is being made to minimize the inconvenience and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.

Public reaction to the announcement has been mixed, with some expressing frustration over the anticipated delays and others acknowledging the necessity of the maintenance work.

Social media platforms have seen a flurry of comments from concerned commuters, with many seeking additional information on the alternative routes and expected traffic conditions.

The RTA has committed to providing regular updates on the progress of the maintenance work and any changes to the traffic management plan through its official social media channels and website. Commuters are encouraged to stay informed and check for updates before embarking on their journeys.

As Dubai continues to expand and develop its infrastructure, such maintenance projects are essential to ensuring the city’s roads remain safe and efficient for all users.

The RTA’s proactive approach to communication and traffic management aims to mitigate the impact on daily life while maintaining the integrity of Dubai’s transportation network.
