According to the UAE Ministry’s statement, the Israeli forces’ move constitutes a direct breach of the disengagement agreement between Israel and Syria, signed in 1974.

The agreement, which aimed to create a demilitarized zone and ease tensions between the two nations, has long been considered a key element of the region’s stability.

By seizing the buffer zone, Israel is seen as undermining a crucial piece of the framework designed to preserve peace in the Golan Heights.

The UAE’s foreign ministry emphasized that the seizure of this land threatens to escalate tensions in an already volatile region, potentially leading to further destabilization.

The UAE called on Israel to reverse its actions and respect international laws, particularly those agreements that aim to ensure peace and security in the region.

In addition, the UAE reiterated its longstanding position on the territorial integrity of Syria, stressing that any foreign interference or occupation in Syrian territory is unacceptable.

The statement also reflected the UAE’s broader commitment to supporting regional stability and its rejection of any actions that might fuel conflict or disrupt peace efforts.

The Golan Heights, which Israel captured from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War, has been a point of contention for decades.

While Israel annexed the territory in 1981, the move has not been internationally recognized, and Syria continues to claim sovereignty over the region.

The 1974 disengagement agreement was intended to reduce military presence and prevent further hostilities, but Israel’s recent actions have sparked renewed concerns about the future of the region.

The UAE’s condemnation comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with the ongoing conflict in Syria, as well as broader geopolitical shifts in the region.

The country’s position underscores its diplomatic efforts to promote peace and its commitment to upholding the principles of international law, particularly in relation to conflicts that impact the Arab world.

As the situation unfolds, the UAE has called for an urgent return to dialogue and peaceful resolution of the conflict, urging all parties to prioritize the region’s stability over further military actions.

With regional powers closely monitoring the situation, the UAE’s call for de-escalation and respect for international agreements is likely to influence diplomatic discussions in the coming weeks.
