Ajman Police Crack Down on E-Scooter and Two-Wheeler Road Violations

Ajman Police share footage of major two-wheeler violations including riding without helmets, entering roads from exits, and using pedestrian crossings unsafely, warning of stricter enforcement

Ajman Police on Tuesday issued a stern advisory to riders of electric scooters and two-wheelers, urging them to strictly follow traffic regulations. The warning comes amid a growing number of incidents involving unsafe riding behavior and the use of unauthorized vehicles on city roads.

In a video released by Ajman Police, several violations were highlighted, showing riders ignoring basic traffic norms. Instances captured include e-scooter users riding without helmets or protective gear, traveling against the flow of traffic on one-way streets, and even using pedestrian crossings as shortcuts.

Police officials stated that the campaign aims to curb dangerous practices that put both riders and other road users at risk. “Safety on the roads is a shared responsibility,” the force said in a statement. “Using illegal electric bicycles or scooters, and riding without proper gear, is not only unlawful but highly dangerous.”

Ajman authorities are not alone in their concerns. Across the UAE, law enforcement and transportation authorities continue to crack down on misuse of two-wheelers — especially among delivery drivers and casual riders.

Recently in Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) impounded 19 motorcycles after multiple riders were found violating delivery service regulations. According to Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the Licensing Agency at RTA, common infractions included operating motorcycles without RTA-issued professional training certificates, not wearing protective equipment, and reckless behavior on the road.

“The safety of the rider and the general public cannot be compromised,” Mahboob emphasized. “We have intensified inspection campaigns and will continue to do so.”

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any unsafe road use. They also remind delivery companies and personal riders that e-scooters and motorcycles must meet legal standards and riders must be trained and equipped with safety gear.

With rising numbers of electric vehicles on UAE roads, officials stress the importance of public awareness and compliance. Ajman Police said enforcement would be paired with education efforts, including road safety workshops and targeted outreach in high-traffic areas.

Riders are reminded that failing to follow traffic rules can result in fines, confiscation of vehicles, and potential legal consequences. The police emphasized that community cooperation is key to making roads safer for everyone.

As the UAE continues to expand sustainable and last-mile transport options, authorities remain committed to ensuring that convenience does not come at the cost of safety.
