As global interest in wellness and yoga continues to grow, Dubai is taking a major step toward embedding these practices into everyday life. This November, the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) will debut ‘Dubai Yoga,’ a flagship mass event that promises to be one of the largest gatherings of its kind in the region.
Set to take place at Zabeel Park on Sunday, November 30, the event will welcome participants of all ages and fitness levels for a day of mindfulness, movement, and community. The programme includes warm-up sessions, breathwork circles, mindfulness activities, and live performances — all designed to inspire balance and connection.
“Over the past eight editions, more than 13 million participants have taken part in DFC, building habits that extend beyond November,” said Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE). “Dubai Yoga is more than a grand finale — it’s a collective exhale, a moment for residents to pause, reflect, and reconnect.”
Al Khaja explained that introducing a yoga-focused event was a deliberate step in promoting long-term wellness among residents. “From early morning cyclists in Dubai Ride to runners filling Sheikh Zayed Road, DFC has always been about unity,” he added. “With Dubai Yoga, we take that same spirit forward — reminding everyone that wellness begins within.”
The popularity of yoga in Dubai has surged in recent years, reflected in the success of similar events. Earlier this year, Atlantis The Palm hosted its first yoga session, receiving overwhelming participation. Encouraged by the response, it is returning with another event, the “Yoga, Sip & Fly” session — combining beachside yoga and sound healing with a scenic flight aboard The Dubai Balloon.
“There’s been a clear rise in demand for wellness-focused experiences,” said Denis Skamo, General Manager of The Dubai Balloon. “People are looking for calm, scenic spaces to nurture body and mind away from the city’s rush.”
Veteran yoga master Allaoua Gaham, who has lived in the UAE for two decades, said yoga’s role has evolved dramatically. “It has transformed from a spiritual ritual into a healing practice that supports longevity,” he said. “Today, it’s merging with trends like cold plunge therapy and biohacking — becoming part of a holistic wellness ecosystem.”
He also highlighted the growing influence of technology. “Artificial intelligence is helping people find deeper balance, freeing time to reconnect with themselves,” Gaham said.
Indian yoga master Shaji Kumar believes yoga’s universal appeal lies in its ability to calm both body and mind. “In today’s fast-paced world, yoga offers mental and physical relief,” he explained. “People of all ages, from children to seniors, can benefit from it.”
As Dubai prepares for its largest-ever yoga event, the emirate reinforces its position as a global wellness hub — inviting everyone to breathe, move, and find harmony together.
