Dominica: The construction of housing units for the families who lost their households due to natural calamities has been on the move under the supervision and leadership of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
According to the shared updates, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit took it to share the great news with the residents and citizens of the Caribbean Island on behalf of the Government through his official social media handle. He confirmed that the construction is undergoing in several different localities in the nation, which would become home to homeless families.
Meanwhile, he expressed immense pride and joyfulness while announcing the news. He noted in his Facebook caption, “The Government of Dominica is forging ahead with the construction of housing units in several communities across the country to secure the comfort and well-being of vulnerable citizens.”
While sharing the information about the ongoing construction of the housing units in Dominica’s different communities, Prime Minister Skerrit also stated that the housing projects would include 14 (fourteen) three-bedroom standalone houses along with 8 (eight) single apartments units in Savanne Scotts Head.
It was further confirmed that the construction project comes under the vision of development as part of Dominica’s housing programme to provide safe, resilient homes to vulnerable and derelict citizens of the country. The project mainly focuses on the welfare of the people by providing them with appropriate places to live by having a roof over their heads.
The reports have stated that the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, under the patronage and directiveness of PM Roosevelt Skerrit, has been providing exceptional benefits and support to the people of Dominica who are affected by the damage caused by nature such as Hurricane Maria and other dangerous incidences.
Moreover, the Government has already handed over many housing units to families who lost their houses and became homeless due to dangerous climatic disasters. Additionally, PM Skerrit also shared a video clip showing the status of the currently going construction works at the sites.
As per the information provided by the video clip, it was stated that around 10 (ten) local contractors are currently engaged in the construction process with their labour workers. The workers are seen working tirelessly to complete the units at the scheduled time, as the housing units are expected to be completed by August 2023 this year.
