Dominica: The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has recently made an announcement regarding the presentation of Electoral Modernization next month by the former president of the Caribbean Court of Justice, Sir Charles Michael Dennis Byron, as per the reports.

According to the updates, the announcement was made by Prime Minister Skerrit on Monday during the press conference held on to discuss a number of essential aspects of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

In addition, during the press conference, the PM added to his remarks that he had received the assurance and commitment made by Sir Dennis Byron, in which he conveyed that the reports regarding the Electoral Modernization are all set to be formally submitted on March 25, 2023, added reports.

Furthermore, the update regarding the announcement was made public through the official social media handle of the Government of Dominica, where it was confirmed that the administration, under the leadership and supervision of PM Skerrit, engaged with the reputable Caribbean Jurist in 2020 with a motive to assess electoral processes along with making reform recommendations.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has also pointed out that technical support and assistance will be provided by the partnership between the Organization of American States (OAS) and Dominica.

Moreover, to facilitate the service with further enhancements, several experts from the election committee will be sent to the country to assist alongside the public consultations prior to the presentation of bills in the Parliament, announced the Prime Minister.

Additionally, the updates clarified that Prime Minister Skerrit also attended a meeting with the Secretary General of the OAS along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss the margins of the CARICOM (The Caribbean Community and Common Market) conference.

He further indicated that he is waiting for the Government of Dominica to provide an accurate date and timings when they would be sending experts to Dominica, along with the Secretary General of the nation.

“So those persons can be there to be part of the process and ensure that the process will continue to be as transparent as it has always been, and we’ll see it through to the end,” the Prime Minister said.
