Dubai Police Crack Down on Modified Vehicles Causing Disturbances in Al Khawaneej

Dubai Police confiscated 23 vehicles and three motorbikes in Al Khawaneej within 24 hours for illegal modifications causing noise disturbances, emphasizing their dedication to public peace, road safety, and strict enforcement against reckless driving behaviors

Dubai Police seized 23 vehicles and three motorbikes within 24 hours for illegal modifications that created loud noises and disturbances in the Al Khawaneej area, the authorities announced on Friday. This enforcement action highlights the city’s commitment to maintaining public peace and road safety.

Maj-Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, explained the penalties for such violations. “Twenty-four traffic fines were issued against the violators; and the fine for releasing an impounded vehicle can reach up to Dh10,000 each,” he said.

Impact on Residential Areas

The crackdown comes as a response to growing concerns from residents over noise pollution caused by modified vehicles. The alterations, primarily designed to increase engine speed and produce loud exhaust sounds, have been a source of significant disturbance, especially in residential neighborhoods like Al Khawaneej.

Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei warned against equipping vehicles with such modifications, emphasizing the dangers they pose not only to the drivers but also to public safety. “These practices endanger the lives of residents, cause disturbances, and can lead to serious road accidents,” he said.

Appeal to the Community

In addition to enforcement measures, Dubai Police urged the public to actively participate in promoting safer roads. Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei encouraged residents to report reckless driving and other negative behaviors through the ‘Police Eye’ and ‘We Are All Police’ services available on the Dubai Police smart app or by calling 901.

He reiterated the importance of the community’s role in supporting the police’s ongoing ‘A Safe Road for Everyone’ campaign. The initiative aims to foster a culture of responsible driving, with a focus on minimizing noise pollution and ensuring road safety for all.

Enforcement and Fines

Authorities highlighted the financial consequences for offenders. In addition to fines for modifications, drivers also risk paying substantial fees to release their impounded vehicles. The move serves as a deterrent for those considering vehicle modifications that breach the law.

The Dubai Police General Department of Traffic continues to monitor the city’s roads rigorously, with a focus on ensuring compliance with traffic regulations. Officials have stressed that reckless or careless driving, especially in residential areas, will not be tolerated.

Residents have expressed appreciation for the police’s efforts, noting that maintaining a peaceful environment is essential in a rapidly growing city like Dubai.

Looking Ahead

As Dubai Police continue their efforts to enforce traffic laws, they call on all motorists to respect regulations and prioritize safety. The community’s involvement in reporting violations and promoting responsible driving remains a crucial element of this campaign.
