Dubai to Unveil Floating Bridge and 24/7 Night Beach in Landmark Dh355-Million Beach Development

The initiative, unveiled on Monday by the emirate's urban planning committee, includes the construction of Dubai's first floating pedestrian bridge and Deira's inaugural night beach, both heralding a new era of leisure and connectivity

Dubai, June 3, 2024 – Dubai’s urban landscape is set for a significant transformation with the announcement of a groundbreaking Dh355-million project aimed at enhancing two of its most cherished beach destinations, Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1.

The initiative, unveiled on Monday by the emirate’s urban planning committee, includes the construction of Dubai’s first floating pedestrian bridge and Deira’s inaugural night beach, both heralding a new era of leisure and connectivity.

First Floating Pedestrian Bridge in Dubai

A key highlight of the project is the 200-meter floating bridge that will link the two sides of Al Mamzar Beach.

This innovative structure will provide a unique and scenic pathway for pedestrians, blending functionality with a striking visual element. The bridge is poised to become a landmark, enhancing the beach’s appeal and accessibility.

Deira’s 24/7 Night Beach

In a move to extend beachgoers’ enjoyment into the night, Deira will debut its first night beach, open 24/7. This development promises to cater to both residents and tourists, offering a continuous and safe environment for nocturnal beach activities under well-illuminated settings.

Extensive Beach Development Plans

Spanning a total of 5.7 kilometers, the redevelopment project will cover 4.3 kilometers of Al Mamzar beach and 1.4 kilometers of Jumeirah 1 beach.

The comprehensive plan aims to enrich the visitor experience through various enhancements, including safety measures, to ensure parts of the beaches remain open during construction.

The redesigned beaches will boast 11 kilometers of bicycle and running tracks and a 5-kilometer tree-lined walkway. These features aim to promote a healthy lifestyle by encouraging outdoor activities amidst scenic surroundings.

Additionally, the beaches will be equipped with dedicated areas for barbecuing, fitness activities, and children’s play, catering to diverse recreational needs.

Enhanced Amenities and Safety Measures

To complement the natural beauty and recreational facilities, the upgraded beaches will include modern amenities such as beach rest houses, seasonal event spaces, and 1,400 car parking spots.

An automatic irrigation system will maintain the greenery, contributing to the aesthetic and environmental appeal.

Ensuring the safety and convenience of visitors, the project will introduce safety deposit boxes, WiFi connectivity, electronic information screens, and comprehensive beach rescue services.

Additionally, 100 security cameras will be installed, providing real-time monitoring linked to Dubai Municipality and police control rooms.

Investment Opportunities and Economic Boost

The ambitious project also opens up 50 investment opportunities, encouraging commercial activity and boosting the local economy.

These opportunities range from water activities leasing and commercial kiosks to restaurants, self-service food and beverage machines, advertising spaces, and beach seating arrangements.

Expanding Dubai’s Coastline

This development is part of Dubai’s broader vision to expand its public beach coastline by 400 percent.

Last year, the emirate announced plans to extend the current 21 kilometers of public beaches to 105 kilometers, significantly enhancing its recreational and tourism infrastructure.

Currently, Dubai hosts eight public beaches: Khor Al Mamzar, Al Mamzar Corniche, Jumeirah 1, Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, Umm Suqeim 1, Umm Suqeim 2, and Jebel Ali.

The new developments at Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 are set to elevate the city’s beach offerings, making them premier destinations for both locals and visitors.

The ambitious beach development project, slated for completion in 18 months, reflects Dubai’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents and tourists alike.
