Egypt records 2,003 new COVID cases

With the arrival of these additional COVID-19 cases, the total tally of the confirmed cases rises to 471,460, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, informed.

The spokesperson of the health ministry further notes that a total of fifty-four (54) individuals lost their lives to the deadliest mutant in the past 24 hours. The total death tally of the Middle East country has risen to 23,806, to date, according to the data shared by the health ministry. 

In addition, a total of 1,239 COVID-19 patients in Egypt recovered from the contagious viral disease. The overall recovery rate of the country stands at 402,121 since the beginning of the outbreak, spokesperson of the health ministry cited.  

Vaccination rate of the country: 

In Egypt, so far, there are a total of 40,088,514 individuals who are partially inoculated with receiving at least one dose of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines. This number computes for around 39.2% of the total Egyptian population. 

There are a total of 29,465,603 persons in the Middle East country who have taken their required number of the novel coronavirus vaccines and are fully vaccinated, counting for about 28.8 percent of the total population.  

The booster shots are at present being administered in Egypt. Till now, a total of 811,171 individuals in Egypt are fully immunised and have also taken their booster jabs. This number of individuals counts for nearly 0.8% of the total Egyptian population.

The Joe-Biden administration on Saturday announced to send an additional 1.8 million of the Pzifer COVID-19 vaccines to the Middle East state.  

The United States Embassy situated in Cairo stated, “Till now, the US administration delivered over 21 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines in order to assist in safeguarding the people of Egypt from coronavirus”.
