The surge in demand for Coldplay tickets has also impacted accommodation prices in Abu Dhabi. Hotel prices in the city have risen by 30% over the weekend, coinciding with the band's four-night concert series

ABU DHABI, UAE – With Coldplay tickets selling out within minutes in various countries, fans from across the globe are flocking to the UAE to catch the British rock band’s much-anticipated performance.

The group kicked off their ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’ on January 9 at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, with more shows scheduled for January 11, 12, and 14.

For some fans, securing a ticket to the concert proved impossible in their home countries, leading them to travel abroad. Among those who made the journey is Azharuddin Syed, a dedicated fan from Pune, India.

Having followed Coldplay for over ten years, Syed had his heart set on attending one of their concerts in India. However, despite his best efforts, all tickets were sold out within minutes.

“I have been an ardent fan for close to 10 years and was very excited when their shows were announced in India,” Syed said. “But unfortunately, I could not secure the tickets in spite of giving it my best as everything got sold out literally within minutes.”

Undeterred, Syed decided to fly to the UAE for his second visit, spending around Dh3,600 for his flight, accommodation, and sightseeing over a five-day stay.

He also plans to use the free shuttle bus service from Expo City Dubai to the concert venue, as parking at Zayed Sports City is unavailable.

The surge in demand for Coldplay tickets has also impacted accommodation prices in Abu Dhabi. Hotel prices in the city have risen by 30% over the weekend, coinciding with the band’s four-night concert series.

Furthermore, short-term rental properties in Dubai have seen a significant increase in rates, with occupancy rates surpassing 80%, according to real estate company Allsopp and Allsopp.

Another fan, Utkarsh Rally from India, had a similar experience trying to secure tickets for the band’s Indian performances. “I tried very hard to get a ticket in India, but it got sold so quickly that I could’ve even advance in the waiting queue,” Rally explained.

“I finally decided to travel to Abu Dhabi and tick off one of my dreams from the bucket list.” Rally, who attended the concert on January 9, will return to India the following day, spending roughly Dh850 for accommodation in Dubai and Dh1,500 for his return flight tickets.

For Siddharth Kamath, also from India, the Coldplay concert in Abu Dhabi served as the perfect opportunity to combine his passion for the band with a short holiday.

“It’s not just about the concert; it’s about experiencing the UAE and making memories while seeing one of the best bands in the world live,” Kamath shared.

The Coldplay concert is expected to draw even more international fans in the coming days, with thousands attending the sold-out performances.

The UAE’s vibrant tourism industry stands to benefit from the influx of music enthusiasts traveling to the country, adding to the festive atmosphere surrounding the band’s performances.

As Coldplay continues to captivate audiences around the world with their unforgettable music and energetic performances, fans are willing to go to great lengths to witness the magic firsthand.
