Five Men Stand Trial for Murder of Indian Businessman in Dubai Robbery

DUBAI — The Dubai Criminal Court has begun proceedings against five Pakistani men accused of brutally murdering a 55-year-old Indian businessman during a robbery at his residence in the Al Wuhaida area.

According to court documents, the crime took place earlier this month when the suspects allegedly stormed the victim’s villa in the afternoon hours, tied him up, and beat him with a blunt object before ultimately strangling him. Prosecutors said the motive was theft, and that the attackers fled with a safe containing cash, jewellery, and passports.

The incident came to light around 9:30pm, when the victim’s son returned home and discovered his father unresponsive in one of the bedrooms.

According to the son’s testimony, he had tried to call his father multiple times earlier in the evening but received no response. On entering the room, he found the safe missing and immediately contacted the authorities.

Police patrols, forensic teams, and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers were quickly dispatched to the scene. Investigators reviewed footage from the villa’s security cameras, which showed three of the accused entering the property at around 4pm on the day of the incident. The same footage captured them leaving approximately 20 minutes later, carrying a medium-sized safe.

The forensic report submitted to the court confirmed the victim had sustained multiple injuries and ultimately died from strangulation after he resisted the attackers. The brutal nature of the assault has shocked the local community.

Following an intensive investigation, Dubai Police arrested three of the suspects within the country. The remaining two were detained at an airport in Pakistan, their home country, in coordination with international law enforcement agencies. Both were extradited to the UAE to face charges.

During questioning, one of the defendants claimed he was only involved as the driver and had no knowledge of the plan to kill the victim. He alleged that after the robbery, the group drove to a remote farm in another emirate, where they broke open the stolen safe and divided its contents.

Despite his claims, prosecutors confirmed that all five men eventually confessed to their involvement in the crime. They have been formally charged with premeditated murder and theft.
