Kingdom of Jordan: The Prime Minister of Jordan, Dr Bashar Al-Khasaouna, chaired a session held on Sunday with the Cabinet and approved the justifiable grounds for a draft law on repealing the ratification of the Surface distillation of oil rocks.

The agreement occurred between the government, represented by the Natural Resources Authority and the Karak State Petroleum Private Contribution Company Limited for 2023 AD.

The updates stated that the bill comes amid the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Wealth notifying the company of the termination of the agreement within ninety days through the official newspaper. 

In addition to violating the company’s contractual obligations under the concession agreement, not removing or treating the cause of the breach at the end of the notice period, and never responding to the notice.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the Syro Municipality Court Formation System for 2023 AD, the Naseem Municipality Court system for 2023 AD, and the Bab Oman Municipality Court Formation for 2023 AD, as well as the reasons for the project of the Birin Municipal Court System for 2023 AD, said reports.

The approval of the systems and the reasons due above comes; in view of the need of the four municipalities to have a municipal court in each of them, specialized in looking at crimes committed within their boundaries, based on the provisions of Article (3) of the Law on Formation of Municipal Courts No. (53) of 2006 requires issuing a special system for each municipal court.

On another note, the Cabinet has approved the National E-commerce Strategy; the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Insurance should implement priority procedures for the years (2023 – 2025 AD) in cooperation with all relevant parties.

“The strategy aims to create an e-commerce enabling environment attractive to investment business, provide income opportunities to citizens, and enhance the competitiveness of SMEs and entrepreneurs through the proper use of e-commerce solutions and modern technologies for local and global expansion, facilitating trade,” added reports.

Moreover, the strategy will be implemented in three phases over ten years, in line with the #VisionEconomicRenewal Timeline, which extends the first phase between two years (2023-2025 AD).

The timeline will focus specifically on creating a national coordination mechanism for e-commerce, launching pilot projects in top-priority magazines to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and reviewing the current legal and regulatory framework to prepare a feasible environment for e-commerce in Jordan.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the strategy span (2026-2029 AD) aims to build a competitive advantage in e-commerce based on the expected results achieved during the first phase. While the third phase span (2030-2033 AD) aims to develop a leading competitive advantage and adapt to new e-commerce technologies. Changes are needed early on; to make Jordan one of the fastest-growing e-commerce centres in the region.

Notably, the Cabinet also agreed to grant (Nai Broadcasting Company) a license to broadcast radio programs on FM to cover the capital governorate.
