Daoud bin Sulaiman Al Rashidi, Director of the Product Development and Tourism Experiences Department at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: The Sultanate of Oman has various natural resources to employ the adventure tourism product to become one of the best destinations in the world for adventure tourism activities and events.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is currently working on exchanging ideas and visuals and presenting practical experiences that this product has been able to grow in a highly professional and organized manner, in coordination with partners from the public and private sectors and interested individuals, as well as seeking to raise awareness of the importance of providing security and safety requirements for operators and practitioners of adventure tourism activities and trying to achieve the benefit that individuals and local communities aspire to from operating the adventure tourism product.

He added to Oman News Agency: The role of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in the adventure tourism sector is in organizing adventure tourism activities from several aspects, the most important of which is the legislative and legal aspect of achieving the regulation of the practice of adventure tourism activities in cooperation with other authorities to ensure elements of security and safety when engaging in these tourism activities in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Director of the Department of Product Development and Tourism Experiences stressed that companies operating in the adventure tourism sector must adhere to the controls and requirements contained in Ministerial Resolution No. (124/2021) when organizing an adventure tourism trip, and the decisions and laws issued by the concerned authorities and fully comply with them.

He stressed that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the concerned authorities have the vision to expand adventure tourism after completing the legislative system for adventure tourism activities in the Sultanate of Oman to serve the various partners in this sector.

He added that the Sultanate of Oman, with its geographical location, is one of the tourist destinations preferred by those interested in engaging in adventure tourism activities.

Because the Sultanate of Oman is a fertile environment for practising this kind of activities, he pointed out that the most attractive sites for those interested in adventure tourism are the Eastern Hajar Mountains, Western Hajar Mountains and some other areas in various governorates, which have become a good hotbed for adventure tourism activities in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to some sites Dhofar Governorate.

Notably, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in cooperation with several relevant authorities from the public and private sectors, organized during the current year 2022 AD the first edition of the “Oman Tourism Forum” dedicated to adventure tourism, which aimed to highlight the role of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in benefiting from the natural resources that are unique to it.
