Roseau, Dominica: The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica – Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has recently landed in Brussels, Belgium, to attend the third edition of the EU-CELAC summit (European Union and Community of Latin American and Caribbean States). The two-day event started on Monday, 17 July and will conclude on Tuesday, 18 July 2023.

The latest reports have stated that Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit was accompanied by his fellow global leaders during the first day of the third EU-CELAC 2023 meeting yesterday.

The first day of the event was dedicated to discussing a number of pressing topics and mutual concerns in front of the participating nations.

PM Skerrit further took it to convey the pressing concerns discussed among the other world leaders to tackle them with a mutual approach. He wrote in his Facebook account caption that “We come together to discuss critical matters that transcend borders

This summit serves as a platform for collaborative action to address common challenges for the betterment of our nations and the world.”

In addition to this, he emphasized that the countries taking part in the summit promote collective efforts and innovative measures to tackle unfavourable threats like climate change, digital transformation, citizen security and Crime.

Meanwhile, PM Skerrit has taken to his official social media handle to share glimpses and information from the meeting. Through his shared post, he addressed his fellow nationals regarding his visit and topics discussed at the EU-CELAC sitting.

In his remarks, he stated that he was welcomed and greeted at the opening event by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel and the Prime Minister of St Vincent and Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves.

In this context, he noted, “Attending the #EUCELAC summit in Brussels. Welcome at the start of the #EUCELACSummit in Brussels by President of the European Council Charles Michel on Monday.”

Furthermore, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica also recognized other leaders from across the world participating in the EU-CELAC summit. 

He extended his remarks and cited the presence of the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, President of the Council of the European Union, and President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Additionally, he shared a number of photographs on his official Facebook handle during his meeting with the organizing members of the summit. Prime Minister of Dominica was also featured in a group photograph along with the other members taking part in the EU-CELAC meeting in its third edition and expressed his pleasure to be a part of it.
