RTA Issues Over 1,200 Fines in Crackdown on Delivery Motorcycles Across Dubai

The penalties were mainly imposed for violations such as unsafe driving, failure to wear protective gear, and operating motorcycles that did not meet the required technical standards

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has ramped up efforts to ensure the safety of delivery drivers by issuing more than 1,200 fines following a series of recent inspections targeting motorcycles across the city.

The penalties were mainly imposed for violations such as unsafe driving, failure to wear protective gear, and operating motorcycles that did not meet the required technical standards.

The inspections, conducted in high-activity areas like Hessa Street, Za’abeel Street, Jumeirah Street, Downtown, Mirdif, and Motor City, were part of a broader initiative to enhance the safety and compliance of the city’s delivery services.

Over the course of the campaign, RTA officers carried out more than 11,000 checks on delivery drivers, their vehicles, and the facilities they operate from. These inspections resulted in significant findings.

Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at RTA’s Licensing Agency, shared that a total of 44 motorcycles were impounded for being either unfit for use or having expired insurance and registration. In addition, 33 electric bikes were seized for lacking the necessary permits to operate legally on Dubai’s roads.

“Common infractions included not complying with public safety regulations, such as the failure to wear protective gear, including helmets, gloves, reflective vests, and elbow and knee guards.

Other violations involved reckless driving, operating motorcycles without professional training certification, and using motorcycles that did not meet approved technical standards,” Al Ramsi explained.

The enforcement campaign also included awareness workshops and safety campaigns, which reached more than 3,600 delivery drivers.

The workshops were designed to educate drivers on the importance of wearing proper safety equipment and adhering to road regulations.

These sessions also addressed the challenges faced by delivery drivers on a daily basis, providing practical solutions to improve their efficiency and safety.

In line with its ongoing commitment to sustainability and safety, the RTA emphasized its role in ensuring seamless mobility across Dubai.

The authority reiterated that the aim of these inspections and campaigns is not only to ensure compliance with traffic regulations but also to protect the lives of delivery drivers and other road users.

The campaign also highlighted the growing concern over the safety of delivery services in the UAE, with motorcycles increasingly becoming a significant part of the city’s transportation network.

RTA’s focus on improving safety measures comes as part of its broader vision to reduce road accidents and ensure that delivery services operate in a manner that prioritizes public well-being.

The RTA’s continued commitment to road safety and compliance underscores its role in ensuring that Dubai remains one of the safest and most efficient cities for all types of transport.

With these inspections and awareness campaigns, the RTA aims to create a safer environment for both delivery drivers and residents alike.

As Dubai’s delivery sector continues to grow, authorities will undoubtedly continue their efforts to ensure that all stakeholders comply with necessary safety standards, keeping the city’s roads safe and efficient for everyone.
