Saint Lucia: Phillip J Pierre congratulates sportsmen during 41st National Sports Awards

Saint Lucia: Philip J Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, has extended his heartiest congratulations towards all the sportsmen and women during the 41st National Sports Awards. While congratulating the athletes, the prime minister noted, “Congratulations to all the sportsmen and women who were celebrated at the 41st National Sports Awards.”

While congratulating the athletes, the prime minister noted, “Congratulations to all the sportsmen and women who were celebrated at the 41st National Sports Awards.”

Additionally, Prime Minister took the platform to share best wishes towards the people who contributed their time and assisted the athletes with many successes and extraordinary work. “To the parents, coaches, administrators, officials, the Ministry of Sports and support systems who assist our athletes in their daily quest for excellence, thank you for showing up!” the post by Prime Minister Pierre read.

The awards were given to three swimmers and an athlete. The awardees were Mikaili Charlemagne, Tristan Dorville, Jayhan Odlum-Smith and Julien Alfred.

According to the Saint Lucia government, the Junior Sportswoman of the Year Award was given to Mikaili Charlemagne (Swimming), Junior Sportsman of the Year was Tristan Dorville (Swimming), Sportswoman of the Year was presented to Julien Alfred (Athletics) and Sportsman of the Year 2022 was Jayhan Odlum-Smith (Swimming).

Many Saint Lucians took to social media’s comment section to congratulate the athletes. One of the users wrote, “Congratulation to all participants and make your country great a proud of you all,” while another mentioned, “Congratulations, Everyone! Keep going for gold.” The third one commented, “Blessings and Congratulations.”

The government and the associated ministries have always worked for the upliftment and growth of the sports industry. The Ministry of Sports, in collaboration with the government, has adopted various policies to enhance the sports facilities and training programs for national athletes and sportspersons said reports.

In his social media post, Prime Minister Phillip J Pierre mentioned all the winning athletes specifically to extend his hopes and best wishes to encourage them to keep showcasing their skills and abilities by putting up the best performances on the field at global tournaments.
