Sharjah to Enhance Education Quality with Standardised Testing for Private Schools

The partnership aims to leverage the expertise and resources of both entities to create an effective assessment framework tailored for the emirate's private schools

In a significant move to improve the quality of education in the emirate, the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has announced its plan to develop and implement standardised tests for private schools.

This initiative was formalised on Wednesday through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between SPEA and Diglossia, an assessment solutions provider.

The partnership aims to leverage the expertise and resources of both entities to create an effective assessment framework tailored for the emirate’s private schools.

Under the terms of the MoU, SPEA and Diglossia will collaborate on an action plan that aligns with Sharjah’s broader educational goals.

SPEA officials have stated that the initiative is designed to enhance the learning experience for students by providing a structured means of evaluating educational outcomes.

“Standardised testing is essential for measuring student performance and ensuring that our schools meet the highest educational standards,” said a SPEA representative.

The authority will be working closely with licensed private schools to ensure that they share all necessary data with Diglossia, facilitating the smooth implementation of these tests.

Diglossia will play a critical role in the partnership by providing comprehensive analyses of the exam results.

The organisation is tasked with ensuring the reliability of the data shared and will also contribute to the development of plans aimed at improving school performance based on the outcomes of the standardised tests.

By analysing the results, Diglossia aims to identify areas for enhancement, thereby driving continuous improvement across the private school sector.

SPEA’s initiative is not only focused on testing but also on encouraging active participation from schools.

The authority believes that by participating in these assessments, institutions will be better equipped to identify their strengths and weaknesses, ultimately leading to improved educational quality.

The testing will also provide valuable insights that can inform curriculum development and instructional strategies.

The introduction of standardised tests is viewed as a vital step towards achieving educational excellence in Sharjah. It aligns with the emirate’s vision of fostering a robust education system that prepares students for future challenges.

By adopting a more data-driven approach to education, SPEA hopes to elevate the standard of learning and ensure that all students have access to quality education.

Educators and school administrators have expressed optimism regarding the initiative. They believe that the implementation of standardised tests will create a more transparent and accountable educational environment.

“This is a positive development for our schools and our students,” remarked a local school principal. “Standardised testing will help us benchmark our performance against established criteria and strive for excellence.”

As the project unfolds, the SPEA will continue to engage with schools, providing guidance and support to facilitate a smooth transition to the new assessment framework.

The authority’s proactive stance underscores its commitment to enhancing the educational landscape in Sharjah and ensuring that all students can thrive in a competitive academic environment.

With this new initiative, Sharjah is taking a decisive step towards refining its education system, ultimately aiming for higher standards and improved outcomes for its students in private schools.

The collaboration between SPEA and Diglossia marks a pivotal moment in the emirate’s educational journey, promising a brighter future for its youth.
