The tactic initially showed promise when the South African captain fell after a quick cameo, but the target never posed serious difficulty.
Ryan Rickelton provided early momentum with fluent boundary hitting, while Dewald Brevis delivered a confident 36-run knock that steadied the innings.
Despite Brevis briefly requiring medical attention after being struck on the glove, he quickly regained composure and played a series of attacking strokes, including a powerful six that shifted the momentum decisively.
Rickelton added 30 runs before falling while attempting another big hit, but by then, the outcome was largely settled. The finishing touches were calmly applied by South Africa’s lower middle order, sealing victory with 40 balls remaining.
Bosch later credited the team’s communication and favorable early conditions for their success, noting that morning rain assisted the bowlers by providing extra seam movement.
With this victory, South Africa advanced confidently into the Super Eight stage, where they are scheduled to face the formidable India national cricket team in Ahmedabad on February 22.
