The milestone was marked by Emirates flight 305, which arrived from Shanghai on December 22, signifying the one millionth air movement.

This achievement is a reflection of the UAE’s continued progress in enhancing its aviation infrastructure, which has contributed to the rapid growth of the sector.

Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE’s Minister of Economy and Chairman of the GCAA, highlighted that the one million air movements are not just a numerical achievement but also a testament to the country’s commitment to developing the aviation industry.

“The UAE has implemented innovative national initiatives and strategies to enhance its competitiveness and prominence in the civil aviation and air services sector, both regionally and globally,” he said.

Al Marri further emphasized that this achievement underscores the UAE’s solid economic foundation and global standing.

“Achieving the milestone of one million air traffic movements in a single year is a reflection of the UAE’s steadfast commitment to developing the aviation sector as a cornerstone of its national economy and solidifying its position as a global air transport destination,” he added.

The UAE has experienced remarkable growth in air traffic over the past two years, with an increase of more than 20%. This growth has positioned the country as one of the highest-performing nations in the aviation industry.

The country’s advanced infrastructure, skilled workforce, and state-of-the-art technologies have made it well-equipped to handle even greater air traffic volumes in the years ahead.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, the Director General of the GCAA, praised the collaborative efforts that contributed to the success.

“Exceeding one million air traffic movements reflects the dedication and hard work of the team at the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre. This is a result of years of planning, innovation, and close collaboration with our partners in the aviation sector,” he said.

The milestone is a key indicator of the UAE’s ambition to continue its leadership in global aviation. As the country moves forward, it is set to further invest in infrastructure and technological advancements to accommodate future growth in air traffic.

The UAE’s aviation industry plays a crucial role in the country’s economy, contributing significantly to employment and tourism.

With a track record of strong growth and continued innovation, the UAE is poised to maintain its position as a major player in the global aviation market in the years to come.

This achievement is a testament to the UAE’s long-term vision for aviation and its relentless pursuit of excellence in the sector.
