UAE: Major Ahmed Al-Kuthairi makes history with 6 desert races across 5 continents

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Major Ahmed Al-Kuthairi of Abu Dhabi Police has achieved an extraordinary feat by recently completing a total of 6 desert races covering five continents following the race held in Mongolia. 

He participated in the races held as part of the Planet Race Series from 17 to 24 June 2023 to join the UAE “4DESERT GRAND SLAM PLUS” club, and Abu Dhabi Police has joined the club globally.

The reports have stated that a number of athletes and sportspeople around the world have participated in the races held in Mongolia and registered their presence in the event. As per the updates, around 31 countries participated in the sports event and registered as one of the most challenging sports.

In addition, “The organizing committee clarified that 31 countries participated in the “Racing the Planet” series, classified as the “Ultra Marathon” category, which extended its final stage for seven consecutive days of 250 kilometres across Mongolia”, noted the officials.  

It was noted that one of the Racing the Planet desert races series congratulated the Emirati racer for his outstanding participation in the 17th edition and gave him a prize In recognition of high sportsmanship within the special awards category.

On his part, Major Ahmed Al- Kuthairi clarified that he carried the slogan of the National Program for Organ Donation and Human Tissue Transplantation (Hayat) as an ambassador for the program throughout the race in Mongolia. 

He outlined that he participated in all races in the continents as part of the Abu Dhabi campaign to support the National Program of Organ Donation and Transplantation “Hayat”.

Furthermore, he promoted the initiative during his stint in order to encourage all members of the community to Register as organ and tissue donors and contribute to improving the quality of life of patients with organ failure and to highlight the efforts of the UAE Humanitarian State in improving the quality of the community.

“I express my gratitude and appreciation for the continued support and encouragement I received from the police leadership, looking forward to continuing and contributing to boosting the participation in the name of the Emirates in the international sports convention”, said Major Al-Kuthairi.  

In the end, he noted that the Planet Race is a series of races that take place on five different continents; each race is 250 km in total Races that have completed 1500 km.
