In Abu Dhabi, Shining Star International School has implemented a comprehensive response plan tailored to the emirate’s conditions.

Om Prakash Prasad, Operations Head, explained that decisions are made within minutes of weather warnings. “As soon as forecasts are issued, our emergency communication plan is activated. This includes coordination with ADEK, timely updates to parents, and safe adjustments to transport schedules.”

He noted that buses are delayed until visibility is safe, outdoor activities suspended during dust storms, and ventilation carefully managed indoors. Parents are alerted in real time via the Salama app, SMS, emails, and a dedicated parent portal.

In Dubai, schools adopt similar strategies, working with KHDA, the Roads and Transport Authority, and Dubai Police.

Chitra Sharma, Principal of JSS Private School, said early monitoring helps them act proactively. “We can anticipate risks and respond swiftly—whether declaring online learning, delaying start times, or modifying transport schedules. Maintenance teams also secure facilities against rain or storms.”

She stressed that clear and immediate updates help parents plan with confidence while ensuring student safety remains the top priority.

School groups are also unifying their policies to ensure consistency. Noufal Ahmed, Founder and Managing Director of Woodlem Education, said all campuses follow structured protocols.

“We coordinate with transport providers and authorities, adjust bus timings, and keep students indoors when conditions worsen. Parents are notified instantly via SMS, email, apps, and social media.”

Ahmed added that staff members are assigned specific roles to ensure smooth execution of emergency measures across schools.
