UAE’s 1 Billion Meals initiative concludes with Sheikh Mohammed contributing 400 meals

1 Billion Meals initiative was successfully concluded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE as it acquired its goal of giving one billion meals to the needy and disadvantaged in over 50 nations.

His Highness highlighted that the initiative reflects the morals and values of the UAE and its people in supporting people in need, emphasising the collection of 600 million meals and thanking the donors for their donations to help the poor and needy people, especially refugees, children, displaced people and the ones affected by major crises around the world.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum tweeted on his official Twitter account, “Praise be to God, we conclude the “1 Billion Meals” campaign, with a record total of 600 million meals donated so far by institutions, companies, businessmen and 320,000 individuals. Today, we announce personal support for the campaign with 400 million meals to complete the campaign.”

His Highness reflected the support of 400 million meals granted by him to achieve the goal of 1 Billion meals and conclude the campaign.

In another tweet, he said, “The 1 Billion Meals campaign expresses the true values of the people of the Emirates and expresses people’s sense of the suffering of others amidst the food challenges the world is witnessing. I thank all those who contributed and interacted with the largest humanitarian campaign in the history of the country to feed food in 50 countries around the world. God save the Emirates.”

Donations came from almost 320,868 donors through the campaign’s different donation channels, which include the website, bank transfer, SMS and call centre. In addition to these donation channels that were available to the general public all over the world, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives partnered up with many partners in a series of remarkable events that have allowed the initiative to acquire this major milestone in the record time. These have included the Most Noble Numbers charity auctions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the 1 Million Saved Meals Campaign and the Giving Challenge.
