The Sabarmati Ashram, which is also known as Gandhi Ashram, is situated in the suburbs of Sabarmati in Ahmedabad and has witnessed a range of events which are historically recognized, he said. During his address, US Ambassador extended his thankfulness to the people of Ahmedabad and called them as the wonderful hosts already.

The reports stated that he visited the ashram first time while travelling first time out of the national capital, New Delhi. He cited that he was honoured to visit Gujarat, which has been a motherland of many leaders and iconic personalities in the country. He also acknowledged that the region is also known for its well-established commerce, connections and prosperity.

Furthermore, he also mentioned that the next batch of student visas would be open in the coming couple of weeks, and it has been instructed the workers focus on this part as much as possible.

Garcetti is planning to surpass the previous number of visa numbers and take it to even more heights. He stated that the President has instructed to reduce the time for visa issuance for both students and first-time travellers.

He commented that during his visit to the ashram, Garcetti greeted the people with the traditional “Namaste” and received a lot of respect and love from Indian representatives.

It was also confirmed that Mahatma Gandhi resided in a small cottage named “Hridaya Kunj” in Sabarmati, which has great significance among visitors as it belongs to a historical instance.
