In addition, Sarah participated in the Young Leaders Marathon organized by the American University of Cairo and Americana. Her team was responsible for increasing energy efficiency and reducing water use at two factories.

On her part, Sarah said, describing her experience of participating in this competition, “Most of the content that I studied at my college is applied to this competition. “We applied most of the knowledge and concepts we learned during our four university years and explored in-depth the labour market and new energy-saving technologies.”

Furthermore, “By participating in this competition, I learnt how to find ideas from different sources.” In addition, there were regular workshops to teach us design thinking, proposal writing and professional presentation skills,” Sarah added.

Moreover, she also conveyed that “I interacted with engineers in my practice field and gained tremendous theoretical and practical experience. Ultimately, at the end of the competition, our team came up with five key energy efficiency solutions using modern technologies.”

The University Scholarship Program provided by the American Agency for International Development is creating future leaders who are problem-solvers and have an entrepreneurial mindset and contribute to Egypt’s economic growth.

Additionally, the organization of USAID has also pointed out the achievements of the university student Sarah El-Refeai as she has been putting in immense efforts and hard work throughout her life and has been succeeding in her goals.
