Egypt: Dr Farid Belhaj, Regional Vice President of the World Bank for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, confirmed that the new framework for partnership between Egypt and the International Bank Group is of great importance, especially in light of the situation.

The speech comes during the launch conference of the New Qatar Strategy between Egypt and the World Bank Group for the period 2023-2027.

In his opening remarks, he also noted, “The global economy represents a strong signal by the World Bank Group to the confidence existing in the Egyptian economy.” In addition, it was also said that the new framework of the partnership between Egypt and the World Bank Group represents a strong signal from the World Bank Group to the confidence existing in the Egyptian economy.

Furthermore, he clarified that this cooperative framework has several pillars, including the issue of giving a greater opportunity to the private sector, noting that this is in line with the approach of the Egyptian government, and the World Bank Group supports this approach.

Meanwhile, he also referred to the green growth axis, confirming that it is also important within the framework of this partnership and pointing out that Egypt has a leading role in the renewable energy file, and the bank is moving ahead with Egypt in this direction.

In this particular, “Belhaj” turned to what the COP27 conference hosted by Egypt witnessed, initiatives in line with the global trend in this regard, clearly, pointing out that Egypt’s presiding over the conference was affirming Egypt’s leadership in this file.

As he approached the file on the role of women in the economy, considered to be a file of interest in Egypt, and supported by the World Bank, confirming that the bank is ready to support this framework in the light of the urgent need to support the role of woman in the labour market, which is an important challenge.

Belhaj was crippled by what the International Cooperation Minister said about communication between Egypt and the World Bank through the Ministry of International Cooperation, appreciating the role the ministry is playing.

As he turned to the conclusion of his speech, the Minister of International Cooperation, in her speech to Dr Ibrahim Shahata, who imitates the position of the First Deputy President of the World Bank from 1983 to 1998, said: “His memory will remain there. And it is a pride for all Arabs in the World Bank.”
