Kuwait Airways temporarily suspend flights to Iraq

The airways stated that “In accordance with the instructions issued by the General Aviation Administration Kuwaiti civilian, the flights to the Republic of Iraq will be temporarily suspended”.

On Saturday, January 29, Kuwaiti and Al-Jazeera airways companies announced that the flights to Iraq would be temporarily suspended. The announced was released by the General Administration of Civil Aviation.

The statement about same was tweeted by the Kuwaiti national carrier. The airways stated that “In accordance with the instructions issued by the General Aviation Administration Kuwaiti civilian, the flights to the Republic of Iraq will be temporarily suspended”.

It further added that the passengers would be informed about the latest developments and instructions, which would be issued by the General Administration of Civil Aviation.

This announcement was made a day after six Katyusha rockets struck Bagdad International Airport and the nearby area. This attack damaged several civilian aircrafts and no causalities were reported.

For now, none group have taken the responsibility for this attack and Iraqi authorities have also not released any official statement.

In 2021 December, Bagdad and Washington has announced to reduce strict advisory and to assist the Iraqi forces. The coalition further said they would officially end the combat missions of the forces of the International Coalition in the country.

The Al-Jazeera Airways announced that it has cancelled two-day flight to Najaf and urged passengers to call 177 or travel agent for further or latest information.
