World’s first hydrogen-powered flying boat, “THE JET”, to be launched in Dubai

This first-ever hydrogen flying boat would be made by the Swiss-based start-up “THE JET ZeroEmission”, and for the operation for the new invention, the start-up has signed an agreement with DWYN and UAE-based Zenith Marine Services.

Recently, according to the Dubai media group, the city has been working towards manufacturing the world’s first clean-energy hydrogen-powered flying boat, THE JET.

This first-ever hydrogen flying boat would be made by the Swiss-based start-up “THE JET ZeroEmission”, and for the operation for the new invention, the start-up has signed an agreement with DWYN and UAE-based Zenith Marine Services.

The Dubai Media Group took Twitter to announce this news and wrote that THE JET, the world’s first hydrogen-powered flying boat, is set to be manufactured and launched in Dubai.

It further said that the company had praised the robust infrastructure and supportive investment environment of Dubai. It added that Dubai, undoubtedly, is an ideal launchpad for investors and companies.

The media group further shared brief details about this new technology on behalf of the founder of THE JET ZeroEmission Alain Thébault and also mentioned that it would be the world’s first-ever boat that would sail without noise and would have the capacity to fly around 80 cm above the water.

Thébault also stated that expectedly, at the 28th International Climate Submit (COP28 UAE), to be organised in the United Arab Emirates would be a place to look forward to meeting some interested investors and companies in this flying boat.

According to the data by local news agency WAM, this announcement is a step towards achieving the start-up and clean-tech industry. It has also gathered around EUR 10 million funding.

Reportedly, the new boat would be without noise and would have a capacity of around 8 to 10 passengers. It would feature an air conditioner, two fuel cells and some environmentally friendly technologies to reduce the emission of carbon.

Dubai launched the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, according to which the city aims to produce around 75 percent of its energy with the help of clean sources by the end of the year 2050.
