Egypt records 2,179 COVID cases; 61 deaths

Egypt has recorded 2,179 new cases of the contagious COVID-19 virus, while a total of sixty-one individuals in the country lost their lives to the viral disease.

Cairo: Egypt has recorded 2,179 new cases of the contagious COVID-19 virus, while a total of sixty-one individuals in the country lost their lives to the viral disease.

With the arrival of these new additional infections, the total active toll in the country has risen to 450,676 since the outbreak emerged in Egypt. The total death rate in the country has increased to 23,233.

The data was shared by the Ministry of Health in the daily COVID-19 update report. A total of 2,121 COVID-19 patients were discharged from the hospital facilities, bringing the overall tally of the recoveries (since the start of the pandemic) to 384,158.

Meanwhile, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, the acting health minister, on Thursday, February 10, 2022, informed the general public that so far, more than 1.8 million of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Egypt for children between the age group of 15 to 18 years.

On the other hand, there are a total of 284,200 children between the age group of 12 to 15 years old. As per the data shared by the health ministry, there are a total of 39,155,636 individuals are the ones who are partially vaccinated by taking their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This statics counts for around 38.3% of the total targeted population.

While there are a total of 28,440,704 persons in the country who have taken their required number of the COVID-19 vaccines and are now fully vaccinated against the virus, this number counts for around 27.8% of the total population.

According to the data shared in the report of the health ministry, a total of 695,669 eligible individuals are fully vaccinated and have taken their booster shots as of February 12, 2022.

The health ministry has further advised the general public to strictly follow the health protocols and measures, such as – wearing masks, maintaining a physical distance, sanitizing frequently and getting themselves vaccinated.
