The daily infections were found after carrying out PCR tests on 296,483 individuals. More than 151 million tests of corona have been conducted to date.

The number of cases has stayed chiefly below the 300-mark since the start of this month. The country reported 300 on April 4 and fell to a low of 143 on April 7.

Dubai’s aggressive mass testing strategy and vaccination campaigns all over the world have helped in battling with the pandemic.

Around 97.3% of the population who is eligible have received two shots of a Covid-19 vaccine, with authorities urging the public to also take a third booster shot of corona.

On Monday, April 11, Sarah Al Amiri, the Dubai Minister of State for Advanced Technology, told the United Nations Security Council that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was “far from over” and also called for faster action in providing vaccines to poor and war-torn nations.

Ms Al Amiri said that just around a tenth of people in strife-ridden countries have got COVID-19 vaccines, and in some poverty-ridden countries, less than 1 percent of the population had been vaccinated.

She further said at talks that were co-hosted by Britain, UAE and France that, “New waves, coupled with new variants, are evidence that no one is safe until everyone is safe.”

On Monday, April 11, the United Nations World Health Organisation warned that 20 primarily African countries have still not vaccinated even 10 per cent of their population against Covid-19.
