Dubai Comedy Festival’s upcoming shows postpone over demise of UAE President

The Dubai Comedy festival 2022, which began on May 12 with Russell Peters' performance 'Act Your Age World Tour' at The Agenda, has postponed all its upcoming shows over the sudden demise of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi as well as the President of United Arab Emirates. 

The Dubai Comedy festival 2022, which began on May 12 with Russell Peters’ performance ‘Act Your Age World Tour at The Agenda, has postponed all its upcoming shows over the sudden demise of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi as well as the President of United Arab Emirates. 

The sudden demise of the UAE President on Friday, May 13, has sent the world into a state of shock. His death was caused due to the prolonged illness that he had been battling since 2012. Leaders from around the world are sending their condolences over his demise, as he was a very renowned and well-known monarch around the globe. He was also the tallest president ever in the United Arab Emirates.

The lineup of the upcoming events of the Dubai Comedy Festival that have been postponed includes Vir Das’ The Wanted Tourwhich was scheduled to happen tonight in Dubai, Jo Koy, The Laughter Factory shows and The Comedy Bizarre. 

The official announcement from Dubai authorities stated, “Due to these unexpected circumstances, The Dubai Comedy Festival 2022 will reschedule forthcoming shows including Vir Das, Jo Koy, The Comedy Bizarre, and The Laughter Factory shows till May 16. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may induce and reassure visitors that a new date for the shows will be declared soon.”

After two thriving seasons that were totally sold out, the Dubai Comedy Festival is back for another exhilarating 11-day long festival this month. Some of the well known, internationally acclaimed comedians like Jo Koy and Russel Peters will be performing during stand up gigs across the city, along with a mix of shows and activations like Comedy Bizarre.

The Laughter Factory will also be performing excellent performances with globally-renowned comedians like Ger Saunton, Aurie Styla and Ali Sultan.
