Expo City Dubai is all set to welcome its first visitors via its gates from Thursday onwards, September 1, before a complete relaunch in October.

Visitors will be able to have access to two of the anchor pavilions, Terra and Mobility, as part of the initial launch of the legacy site, a successor to the six-month of world’s fair bonanza, which closed during late March.

On Monday, August 29, the organisers stated that the move was the ‘first chapter of the journey of Expo City Dubai’.

Tickets for both pavilions will cost Dh50 per individual and can be bought through the official site – www.expocitydubai.com. They can also be bought at four box offices at Expo City Dubai from Thursday onwards.

The phased launch will feature Garden in the Sky, with a view of 360 degrees, with adult tickets priced at Dh30 per individual. Attractions are free of cost for children below the age of 12 and People of Determination.

Alif and Terra will open every day from 10 am to 6 pm, while Garden in the Sky will open from 3 pm to 6 pm, extending from 10 am to 6 pm on Friday, September 16.

The organisers stated in a statement on Monday, “Although some transitional work is still being carried out, much of Expo City Dubai’s public realm will be open and is unrestricted to visit.”

Later this year, the Opportunity Pavilion will also become the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum, which will be a new addition showcasing the history and effects of World Expos.

In a statement, organisers stated that they were looking forward to the come back of school trips, with the Expo School Programme readying an “awe-inspiring and growing collection of immersive academic experiences, exhibits and interactive workshops, highlighting the themes of the pavilions”.

Earlier this month, Al Wasl Plaza, the Expo’s centrepiece, was longlisted for the Dezeen Awards 2022.
