This year’s occasion coincides with two years since the signing of the Abrahamic Peace Agreement between the UAE and the State of Israel, which represented a glimmer of hope and a real opportunity for the countries of the Middle East to enjoy peace and stability after decades of conflicts and tensions that affected the future of their peoples.

Since the era of the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, the UAE has devoted itself as a key player and an important partner in the success of peace initiatives at the regional and international levels, based on its human legacy and civilizational message based on upholding the values ​​of love and tolerance and rejecting intolerance.

Over the past five decades, the UAE has participated in many peacekeeping initiatives and operations under the umbrella of international legitimacy with the aim of defusing crises, addressing the dangers of war and mitigating its effects on peoples. past.

Since its establishment, the UAE has adopted a successful policy and distinguished relations with all countries of the world based on peace, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. More than 190 countries around the world, as well as more than 110 foreign embassies, 73 consulates, and the regional headquarters of dozens of regional and international organizations.

The UAE has launched many initiatives and awards stimulating the dissemination of a culture of peace and tolerance around the world, including the “Human Fraternity Document for Global Peace and Coexistence” sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, and the “International Peace Prize” Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”.

It is noteworthy that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the International Day of Peace in 1981, and after two decades have passed, the General Assembly set September 21 as the date to celebrate the occasion annually as a day for global ceasefire and non-violence through education and public awareness and for cooperation in achieving a ceasefire in the whole world.
