UAE: Brigadier Bin Faris asks motorists to take road safety precautions

As per the sources, the important update regarding the weather and road safety of the motorist was shared on the official Facebook account of the Dubai Police Force Department yesterday, December 28.

A post was uploaded to raise awareness among vehicle owners and motorists regarding the bad weather, in which Dubai Police explained the current weather situation.

Furthermore, the officials from the Dubai Police Force urged and encouraged motorists and drivers to take extra precautionary measures to keep themselves and others safe during the unstable weather conditions for the next few days.    

On his part, Brigadier Turki Abdurrahman bin Faris, Acting Director of the General Department of Operations in the Dubai Police Force, has conveyed that drivers and vehicle operators should always take safety provisions seriously and be aware of the road-weather conditions altogether that could save them from any mishappening. 

Moreover, “In the months of low visibility and overcast weather conditions, people should act extra carefully because it could cause severe results”. Brigadier Bin Faris added.

In addition, Dubai Police officials also pointed out some of the important preventive techniques and routines which the motorist should follow to ensure their and others’ safety on the road, which read as,

– Motorists should take extra buffer time before they start their journey to review and understand the weather forecasts.

– Drivers should look for fresh updates on weather through different forecast channels, such as media, radio, online updates, etc.

– People should go slow on wet roads, ensuring any accidents during the rainy seasons.

-The updates from competent and trustworthy authorities should be monitored closely for new information on the weather.

– The drivers should maintain a safe distance while driving between other vehicles.

– The vehicle’s speed should be in control, especially on wet roads, and adjusted according to weather conditions.

– People should use low-beam lights to indicate when they change lanes on the road.

In addition, Brigadier Bin Faris also noted in his statement that in the past few days, the Dubai Police Force Command and Control Centre had already received 15,057 calls which is a huge number, 

of which around 13,108 calls were made to the Force’s 24/7 emergency hotline (999), and the remaining 1,959 calls were handled and assisted by the Dubai Police Call Centre (901), which handles non-emergency calls and general inquiries.
