The Prince of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has extended condolences to those affected by the hurricanes and catastrophic floods in Libya. Crown Prince of Dubai, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum, took it to his official social media handle to express the grief to the bereaved families.
While expressing the grief over the number of those affected by the hurricanes and catastrophic floods, Prince Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, expressed that, “Our sincere condolences to our people in Libya for the victims of the hurricane and catastrophic floods, and we ask God for a speedy recovery for those injured… May God protect Libya and its people from all harm.”
It is to be noted that, around 2000 people have been died and thousands are reportedly missing after Storm Daniel sprayed the northeastern part of Libya, that two dams collapsed sending water flowing into the already affected areas.
Moreover, the health minister in the eastern parliament-backed government in Libya, Othman Abduljalil, has paid a visit to the affected city of Derna on Monday, calling parts of it as a “Ghost town.”
While elaborating on the situation in the city of Derna, Minister Othman Abduljalil, said that, “The situation in Derna was catastrophic. The bodies are still lying in many places. There are families that are still stuck inside their homes and there are victims under the rubble. I expect people have been washed away into the sea and we’ll find many of them by tomorrow morning.”
Meanwhile, the photos and videos that were shared online has shown submerged cars, collapsed buildings and torrents of water rushing through the roads.
Along with this, several leaders across the world have expressed grief and offered aid to Libya as rescue teams are working hard to find survivors under the rubble.
