Housing minister of Dominica, visits school construction site

Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, who is serving as minister of housing, land and urban development of Dominica, visited a grammar school to check the ongoing construction at Roseau Central. She expressed her happiness at the pace of construction work.

She hoped that soon, the school would turn students’ dreams into reality. As per her, this opportunity to visit and inspect the construction site fills her with pride.

It is a project which is being funded through the CBI(citizenship by investment)programme. She also mentioned that the support of MMCE and the government of Dominica is invaluable.

Speaking specifically, she said during her visit that, without the contribution and unconditional support of the government, the project could be completed within the stipulated period.

Moreover, the funds of the CBI project are also being used for many constructive works, and this school construction is also one of the major construction projects.

She also added that the school, after the completion of construction work, would be the best in the region, will also fulfil the needs of many students.

Minister highlighted the importance of school that will provide the technical skills to youth to enable them for self-employment. The school has the facilities for tennis and football,a theatre with capacity of three hundred persons, a green area, along with digital classroom, all of which are accessible for students with disabilities.

Minister added further that the construction of the school would bring great satisfaction to the local residents of Roseau as all of them were eagerly waiting for this dream project.

It is worth mentioning that the CBI programme is bringing a huge amount of money into Dominica in the form of investment . The CBI programme was launched in 1993 in Dominica ,Under this programme, an investor has multiple investment choices, including ongoing real estate projects.

The eligible projects under the real estate category also include hotels construction , and these hotel projects alone benefit the tiny island nation in many ways. The construction projects under the CBI programme also create hundreds of local jobs

Once projects are completed, they continue to provide jobs in the tourism sector. The growth of the tourism sector will also attract additional foreign visitors to the island.
