By the women, for the women. This may be the best logo for a women-only job fair held in Dubai. The job fair was held in a five-star hotel in Downtown Dubai on last Saturday.Almost 2000 women job seekers participated in the fair.
The exceptional career fair for female jobseekers was organised with the help of “WIT Events”, a community group of Indian expat women from the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Merlin Gopi, the current president of WIT, described briefly that the event provides a unique platform for women job seekers of various nationalities to meet with representatives of different companies under one roof, offering many job opportunities.
“WIT feels proudful and privileged to be organiser of this All Women’s Job Fair,” she said.
Speaking specifically about the need to host such kind of event, Gopi said: “We are trying to support women to be independent financially, have knowledge, courage and self-respect.
She also mentioned the other initiative being conducted by the WIT, includes talent hunt shows and entertainment events across different parts of Dubai.

She also explained that, “After every event, we take feedback from our participants and we got many requests from the members for this kind of job fair in other parts of the country.
According to her, many of them are highly educated but lack enough support, guidance and connections to emloyers to get a dream job as per their skill and education level.
So to facilitate these talented and aspiring women, we approached companies and decided to go with a career fair open to women jobseekers of all nationalities.
She said that all participants of the fair benefited from this . The companies found it easy to get a good chunk of the skilled workforce from this job fair; companies were able to screen a large number of candidates in person in a short time.
Companies from different sectors participated in this all-women job fair. “The companies that took part included courier companies, hospitality companies, insurance companies, school groups, supermarket chains, facilities management companies, HR recruitment companies, etc.
Organiser of the event extended their gratitude to all the companies that participated in fair. The fair organiser also thanked all the jobseekers/candidates who attended the fair and patiently waited for their turn to be interviewed by the recruiter.
Organisers saw the fair as a great success, with the participation of around 2000 women candidates of all nationalities taking part.
The job offerings include positions in administration, teaching, sales, engineering, promotion, customer service, healthcare, insurance consulting, front office roles, sales representation, cashiering, driving, personal assistance, human resources, and accounting and many more.
There was a provision of free registration for all job seekers. After that, they can enter the job fair. Several volunteers, having membership with the WIT group- facilitated the registration and interview procedures.
Gopi said that at the job fair, at least 100 candidates were shortlisted for jobs according to their credentials after the interview.
Now, shortlisted candidates need to visit the offices of their respective companies for the next round of formalities.
Job seekers, while attending the event, expressed happiness and joy. They said such kind of event must be held frequently which provide opportunities to meet with a representative of different companies under one roof.
An applicant, Sujatha, said she got an offer from two companies for the next round of interviews in the coming days. “another applicant said the recruitment company now will call me over the phone for the next round.”
Filipina expat Jenni Rose, who was looking for a job opening in the front office in the hospitality sector, appreciated the initiative.
Another candidate said, all women, found it a good platform to look for jobs that suit their qualifications and experiences. “Thank you, WIT, for giving us this platform to motivate women and empower them,” she added.
