As the United Arab Emirates gears up to celebrate Union Day, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has rolled out a series of measures to facilitate residents and enhance the festive spirit.

From December 2 to December 4, Dubai residents can enjoy free public parking, excluding multi-level terminals, courtesy of the RTA. This gesture aims to contribute to the joyous atmosphere surrounding the national holiday.

The temporary reprieve from parking fees is part of the RTA’s commitment to ensuring a seamless experience for residents during the Union Day celebrations. However, it’s essential for motorists to note that average parking tariffs will resume on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

In addition to the parking concession, the RTA has also announced adjustments to the working hours of various services during the holiday period.

These changes encompass customer happiness centres, paid parking zones, public transportation modes such as buses, Dubai Metro, and Tram, as well as marine transport means and service provider centres for vehicle testing.

Service provider centres, specifically those catering to vehicle testing, will observe closures from Saturday, December 2.

However, technical inspection services will resume on Monday, December 4, at selected centres, including Tasjeel Al Twar, AutoPro Satwa, AutoPro Al Mankhool, Tasjeel Al Awir, and Al Yalayis. Normal operations are set to resume across all service provider centres from Tuesday, December 5.

Customer happiness centres will be closed during the holiday, with the exception of Smart Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Kifaf, and RTA’s Head Office, which will operate around the clock.

For those relying on Dubai Metro services, the red and green lines will operate from 5 am to 1 am (the next day) between November 30 and December 12. This adjusted schedule accommodates the increased demand during the Union Day festivities.

Public bus commuters should be aware of route diversions on Sheikh Zayed Road (towards Abu Dhabi) for selected routes, including 10, 15, 21, 7, 8, 83, 91, E101, 98E, 96, 95A, 95, 91A, X94, X92, E102, from December 1 to December 3.

During the diversion period from 6:30 am to 11 am, delays and cancellations may occur due to road diversions, and affected bus stops will be temporarily closed.

As Dubai comes together to celebrate Union Day, the RTA’s thoughtful measures aim to ensure a harmonious and enjoyable experience for all residents, promoting the spirit of unity and celebration across the city.
