PM Philip J Pierre Attends High-Level Meeting in Saint Vincent and Grenadines

Philip J Pierre, The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, on Thursday Visited Saint Vincent and Grenadines. He visited here to attend a high-level meeting aimed at discussing the existing border dispute between Guyana and Venezuela.

Prime Minister Philip J Pierre Joins other leaders of CELAC(The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) and CARICOM(Caribbean Community). The main objective of the meeting was to De-escalate the tensions between Guyana and Venezuela and find a peaceful solution for it.

The Eessequibo region is the bone of contention between both countries. This region makes up to more than two-thirds of the Territories of Guyana and is home to approximately 125,000 citizens.

PM Philip J Pierre and other CARICOM leaders through this high-level meeting want to bring a peaceful and permanent solution to this conflict.

PM Philip J Pierre also took to His social media page to inform his participation in this high-level meeting. He stated on his social media page, “This morning, I am travelling to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines via the RSS to attend the “Presidential Meeting Under the Auspices of CELAC and CARICOM on Matters Consequential to the Border Controversy between Guyana and Venezuela.”

Our region must remain a place of peace and cooperation”.

Social media users also reacted to the post of Philip J Pierre. One user, Cynthia Joseph, Commented, “Journey’s mercies PM!!. This is the second week of Advent when the Peace Candle was lit. I pray for peace in all negotiations related to the impasse between Guyana and Venezuela”.

Another user, Jadin jn Pierre commented, “The region is counting on your leadership during this frightening period. I am deeply disturbed by the moves being made and the tone of the rhetoric surrounding this border controversy.I look forward to meaningful engagement and timely intervention”.

Similarly, Pauline Prospero while reacting to The post of Prime Minister, wrote in a comment, “Safe travels, PM. This is a noble endeavour that requires diplomacy, empathy and resilience. I wish you every success in promoting understanding and collaboration for a more peaceful region.”

A large section of the Saint Lucia Population supported the peace effort of Prime Minister Philip J Pierre and other CARICOM leaders.
