PM Drew Joins International Nurses Day celebration with wife Diani Prince Drew

Dr. Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis along with his wife Diani Prince Drew and Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd joined the celebration to mark the International Nurses Day on Sunday.

Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: Dr. Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis along with his wife Diani Prince Drew joined the celebration to mark the International Nurses Day on Sunday. They were accompanied by Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd to extend best wishes to the nurses of the country.

At the event, discussions were also held  to identify and address the challenges faced by nurses. This year the day was celebrated under the theme “Our nurses, our future, the economic power of care.”

The International Nurses Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Florence Nightingale. She is regarded as the founder of Modern nursing practices. It is a reminder to recognise the crucial role played by the nurses in the health services sector.

PM Drew also took to his social media handles to extend the best wishes. He shared glimpses of the event on his official Facebook page as well. The PM also had personal interaction with some of the nurses to apprise himself about their concerns.

PM in his Facebook post stated, “Greetings to all, today my wife and I along with Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd spent a splendid evening with proud nurses of our nation.”  “I would like to invite everyone to join us to show our blessing and love and appreciate the contribution of our nurses. Happy International Day to all the nurses,” added PM.

Notably, few days ago acting permanent secretary of health, Curtis Martin delivered the address about  International Nurse Day. Moreover, he also explained the week-long activities planned by the health ministry to celebrate the international nurses day in St. Kitts and Nevis.

On the other hand large number of social media users commented on the Facebook post of PM Drew and congratulated the nurses as well. A Facebook user Sunshine Crawford commented “Dr Terrence Drew thank you for hosting a cocktail party to appreciate the hard-working nurses. Thank you once again for thinking about nurses and keeping your promises.”

Similarly, Jamie Quamina commented, “Outstanding blessing to all the hardworking nurses.”
